Contaminated complex laceration of oropharynx

Last edited:

Pathophysiology

The hydrogel promotes healing by regulating immune cell function, stimulating angiogenesis, and fostering the formation of granulation tissue [PMID:39402942].

Management

A biodegradable Loureirin hydrogel demonstrated superior healing properties in radionuclide-contaminated wound models, achieving complete healing with over 70% epithelial coverage by day 10 [PMID:39402942].

Complications

The study showed that the hydrogel application did not result in secondary lesions, addressing a common complication in the management of such wounds [PMID:39402942].
