Stable tachyarrhythmia

Last edited: 4/10/2026

Overview

Stable tachyarrhythmias are abnormal heart rhythms characterized by a rapid heart rate that persists over time. These rhythms arise from complex electrical activity in the heart, involving the coordinated function of numerous ion channels 1.

Diagnosis

Management

  • Co-expression of calcium (CACNA1C) and hERG potassium (KCNH2) channels may reduce the incidence of proarrhythmic events 1.
  • In silico modeling suggests that co-expression of CACNA1C and KCNH2 can limit action potential duration variability and reduce susceptibility to early afterdepolarizations 1.
  • Special Populations

    Key Recommendations

  • Co-expression of CACNA1C and KCNH2 channels is associated with reduced proarrhythmia 1. (Evidence: Moderate)
  • Co-expression of CACNA1C and KCNH2 channels may limit action potential duration variability 1. (Evidence: Moderate)
  • Co-expression of CACNA1C and KCNH2 channels may reduce susceptibility to early afterdepolarizations 1. (Evidence: Moderate)
