Open stellate fracture of patella

Management

Ten ALT flaps were used in 9 patients for patellar tendon reconstruction, demonstrating successful functional restoration and soft tissue coverage with a mean follow-up of 30 months [PMID:30579912].

Complications

Complications necessitating the harvest of a second flap were observed in 2 out of 10 flaps (20%) [PMID:30579912].

Prognosis & Follow-up

All patients were able to resume daily activities without walking supports, achieving mean Knee Society Scores of 81/100 for knee function and 77/100 for function [PMID:30579912].
