Acute drug-induced interstitial lung disorder

Last edited:

Clinical Presentation

A 71-year-old woman presented with high fever, severe cough, and physical examination revealing fine crackles in both lower lung fields after treatment with loxoprofen [PMID:27225339].

A 32-year-old patient developed diffuse pulmonary haemorrhage following ketorolac tromethamine administration, as evidenced by characteristic high-resolution CT imaging [PMID:20603403].

Diagnosis

Chest CT showed reticular shadows in both lower lung fields, consistent with interstitial changes [PMID:27225339].

High-resolution CT findings were pivotal in diagnosing diffuse pulmonary haemorrhage in a case linked to ketorolac tromethamine use [PMID:20603403].

Management

The patient's symptoms deteriorated despite initial treatment, suggesting that discontinuation of loxoprofen was likely necessary for management, though specific therapeutic interventions post-discontinuation are not detailed in this case report [PMID:27225339].

Complications

This case highlights diffuse pulmonary haemorrhage as a potentially life-threatening complication associated with ketorolac tromethamine therapy [PMID:20603403].
