Clinical Presentation

Elderly patients with comminuted periarticular fractures frequently face challenges in recovery without timely and effective intervention, highlighting the need for innovative approaches like immediate arthroplasty [PMID:24720293].

Management

This biomechanical study [PMID:28606433] compared double-plate osteosynthesis with single plate fixation using a 3D camera system, finding less micromotion with double plating before and after cyclic loading, though overall stability was similar.
