Occlusive mesenteric ischemia

Overview

Mesenteric ischemia involves reduced blood flow to the intestines, categorized into acute (AMI) and chronic (CMI) forms, often due to atherosclerotic disease, emboli, or thrombotic events. AMI is particularly lethal, while CMI presents with postprandial pain and weight loss 634.

Diagnosis

  • Clinical Presentation: Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or bloody stools 629.
