Management

In a multicenter prospective cohort study [PMID:38758250], 15.2% (42/276) of patients did not adhere to their prescribed antibiotic regimen post-dermatologic surgery.

The study identified forgotten antibiotics (42.9%) and side effects (28.6%) as the predominant reasons for incomplete antibiotic courses [PMID:38758250].

Key Recommendations

Given that physicians can address reasons like forgotten doses and side effects, tailored patient counseling strategies are recommended to improve adherence [PMID:38758250]. (Evidence: Expert opinion)
