Management

Chen et al 7 suggested that LC has better improvement and longer recurrence duration in the treatment of osmidrosis compared to subcutaneous lasers. [PMID:28816985]

In this study, endoscopic resection of apocrine glands in 18 patients resulted in considerably reduced axillary sweating and improved quality of life, with no occurrences of skin necrosis, upper limb edema, or bleeding, though subcutaneous fluid drainage occurred in 5 patients [PMID:24654700].

Complications

Tsai indicated that axillary liposuction, including LC, has high efficacy and low complication rates in treating bromhidrosis. [PMID:28816985]

Subcutaneous fluid drainage was observed in 5 out of 18 patients post-surgery, indicating a complication rate of about 27.8% [PMID:24654700].

Prognosis & Follow-up

Follow-up assessments over approximately 0.5-2 years revealed that all patients experienced a considerable reduction in axillary sweating and a significant decrease in the impact of bromhidrosis on their quality of life, as measured by the Dermatology Quality of Life Index [PMID:24654700].
