Left atrioventricular valve stenosis

Last edited:

Diagnosis

Non-invasive assessment using combined cross-sectional and Doppler echocardiography showed a close correlation (r = 0.90) with the Gorlin formula obtained at cardiac catheterization [PMID:2723584].

Estimates of valve area using the pressure half-time method correlated moderately (r = 0.68) with the Gorlin area and tended to significantly overestimate it [PMID:2723584].

Management

Non-invasively determined valve areas via echocardiography provide accurate quantification of stenosis severity, supporting their use in clinical management [PMID:2723584].
