Hematoma of buccal mucosa

Last edited:

Management

Despite limitations, the masseter flap offers acceptable complication rates, shorter surgical times, avoids donor site morbidity, and minimizes aesthetic deformity compared to other options like skin grafts or nasolabial flaps [PMID:26535825].

Complications

While not as favorable as free flap reconstructions, the masseter flap demonstrates manageable complication profiles suitable for carefully selected patients [PMID:26535825].

Prognosis & Follow-up

The study indicates that masseter flaps result in minimal aesthetic deformity, suggesting potentially better long-term cosmetic outcomes for patients [PMID:26535825].
