Last edited:

Management

In a prospective randomized controlled trial [PMID:30824960], no significant difference in incisional SSI rates was observed between the control group (9.7%) and the experimental group with contralateral drainage (8.6%).

Complications

The study reported an overall incidence of incisional SSI of 9.1% among 66 patients analyzed, aligning with lower ranges reported in the literature [PMID:30824960].

Prognosis & Follow-up

No patient deaths were reported among the 70 patients included in the study, indicating a zero mortality rate for loop ileostomy closure procedures [PMID:30824960].
