Transient synovitis of hip

Last edited:

Clinical Presentation

Transient synovitis typically manifests as an acute onset of thigh pain accompanied by a limp or an unwillingness to bear weight [PMID:23812087].

Diagnosis

It can be differentiated from other conditions by the absence of fever and normal bloodwork parameters (WBC, CRP, ESR), unremarkable radiographs, and hip aspiration results [PMID:23812087].

Management

Conservative management and observation are recommended, with NSAIDs potentially accelerating recovery [PMID:23812087].
