Overview

Patent vitelline duct (PVD), also known as patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in clinical contexts, refers to the failure of the ductus arteriosus to close after birth, leading to a left-to-right shunt and potential hemodynamic complications, particularly in preterm infants.
