The use of SI may increase mortality in preterm infants 1. Preterm infants: The evidence reviewed pertains to preterm newborns, specifically those ≤28+0 weeks' gestation 1. Sustained lung inflations (SI) for more than 5 seconds should not be used for preterm infants at birth 1. (Evidence: Strong)
